AUDIO DRAMA
The Boleyn Brothers
Jonathan Williamson
August 1914: as Britain goes to war, the roar of West Ham's Boleyn Ground gives way to the call to arms. The Boleyn Brothers is an immersive WWI audio drama following the 13th Battalion, Essex Regiment, the real-life "West Ham Pals," from eager recruitment into the mud, gas and machine-gun fire of the Western Front.
Sergeant George Hitchcock, torn between duty and fear, enlists to keep Izzie's brother Henry safe. At Passchendaele, friends vanish into shell holes and fall in their hundreds as the Battalion is decimated. Blending drama, verbatim war diaries and history, it asks what survival costs, and what the living carry home.
